This guide will walk you through how to manage your Observations effectively, from renaming and changing themes to removing snippets and merging Observations, you'll learn how to customize and refine your data to perfectly align with your analytical needs.
Renaming
Renaming is really simple - just open the Observation in the side panel, select the name at top and overwrite it. It’ll save automatically and be reflected instantly across the whole app.
Renaming requires the Editor role, or a custom role which includes the 'Edit observations' permission.
Changing themes
Each Observation is associated with more or more themes. To change the associated theme, select the Observation to view and select Details in the side panel. Here you can add any theme from your theme structure. You can also remove any theme that Lyra AI has automatically assigned. An Observation must have at least one theme, so if you want to change a single theme, you first need to add the new one and then remove the old one.
Changing themes requires the Editor role, or a custom role which includes the 'Edit observations' permission.
Removing snippets
You may decide that certain snippets are not a strong enough relation to your Observations. You can remove snippets from an Observation by selecting the remove icon in the top right corner. Once you remove a snippet from an Observation it will be reflected across the app, so any reports or dashboard that include the Observation will no longer show the removed snippet.
Please note - removed snippets are not reassigned to alternative Observations.
Removing snippets requires the Admin role, or a custom role which includes the 'Manage observations' permission.
Merging Observations
Observations in Chattermill are designed to be highly granular, providing actionable insights. However, given their granularity, this can sometimes result in Observations that you may consider to be appearing as distinct entities. While most duplicates are addressed automatically by Lyra AI during the initial onboarding process, users with sufficient permissions also have the ability to manually merge observations they perceive to be the same. This allows for greater control over your observations, preventing the loss of detail that could occur from over-merging into broader themes.
You can merge Observations from anywhere you see them in the app. Simply select two or more Observations and choose merge from the action menu. When merging, the Observation with the highest volume will inherit the themes and snippets of feedback from the smaller volume Observations. The Observation name will also be taken from the Observation with the highest volume. If this name no longer suits this new aggregate Observation, you can simply rename it by selecting the name and overwriting it. It’ll save automatically.
Please note - Observations cannot currently be un-merged, so ensure you review not only the names of the Observations when deciding to merge, but also their descriptions and snippets.
Removing snippets requires the Admin role, or a custom role which includes the 'Manage observations' permission.
