Chattermill supports most Single Sign On (SSO) setups. We usually help our customers setting things up and testing everything out to ensure smooth experience for users. Below we have collected the most common questions we get on SSO.

Does Chattermill support SSO?

Yes, we support most SSO setups.

What kind of SSO does Chattermill support?

Most of them. Example methods we support:

  • SAML 2.0

  • ADFS

  • Google Workspace (both SAML and native)

  • Active Directory

We also have specific guides for customers using these platforms:

  • Okta

  • Jumpcloud

  • Onelogin

  • Google Workspace

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Keycloak

We are confident we can also support other systems as long as they utilise one of the popular standards (eg. SAML).

Does Chattermill support Just In Time Provisioning via SSO?

Once you have set up SSO with us, you can choose which projects (and with what default role) your users can automatically be added to if the SSO provider verifies their credentials.

You can then invite users to other projects if necessary.

Once SSO is set up, can the users access the system without it?

No, once SSO is enabled for a specific domain, users with emails on this domain can only log in via SSO.

If you need to invite a user with another domain (e.g. a consultant or contractor), you can still do it, but their accounts will not be created automatically.

Does Chattermill support SCIM?

We do not support the full SCIM lifecycle, only the creation of accounts for new users. However, users deactivated on SSO, will not be able to log into Chattermill due to SSO enforcement (see above).

I am a Chattermill customer. How do we set up SSO with Chattermill?

Please email our Support team or use the in-app chat to request SSO setup. It would help us if you can provide the following with your request:

  • The system you use (eg. Okta)

  • The standard required (eg. SAML 2.0)

  • Domains we need to support (eg. example.com and example.co.uk)

  • Projects you would like users to get access to by default (eg. all current projects)

We will then reply with a step-by-step guide to get the integration set up. Do not worry if you do not have all of the information requested above; you can just put us in touch with the relevant IT / Security team on your end.
